Actually, in Chinese literature the word "孟" means "the second." Yet, we represents it as the beginning of the seasons, because we omit the word "伯." "伯仲叔季" and "伯孟叔季" are the same, so the "孟" and the "仲" both mean the second.
Oops! I always believe that "孟" means the oldest people since I am the oldest brother in the family. Now you teached me a lesson. Anyway, thank you for your correction. ^^
